Narwhal Technologies Inc., Code of Conduct

Authentic Participation. We encourage participation for attendees at Nrwl events in authentic way. This way you help contribute to the health and longevity of our events within the community. Each participant is expected to uphold this code of conduct. Whether you are inside our events, or interacting with the community (either in person or online), the expectation to uphold proper conduct is the same.

We do not tolerate disrespectful behaviour towards other members of the community, this includes demeaning, discriminatory or harassing messages. Exercise consideration.

Things to avoid:

  • Language that can be offensive, including topics that can make others feel threatened and/or uncomfortable (including excessive swearing). Insensitivity and/or jokes towards the following are violations of the code of conduct: gender, gender identity, and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size/shape, race, religion, age.

  • Avoid furthering any romantic interests. Unwanted verbal advances or suggestive physical contact can make someone feel uncomfortable and/or harassed.

  • Avoid bullying.

Attempt collaboration before conflict. No one is perfect, but let's try to understand why we disagree first. Learning to de-escalate a hostile situation is a life skill, let's practice some of it here.

Don't keep silent if you observe hurtful or harassing behaviour. Please report your concerns first to a Nrwl staff member at an event. If you have concerns following an event, please report the code of conduct violation to karol@nrwl.io, and include your contact info (to followup with you), the date and time of the incident and its location, and a description of the incident. All reports will be handled with discretion and retaliation against the person who made the complaint will not be tolerated.

It's simple, this is a curated group. We assume everyone in our community is intelligent and well meaning. We will not tell you what to do, however there are a few things that this group requires in order for it to operate at full value to its members:

Nrwl is committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for all, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, ability, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, technological choices, and religion (or lack thereof).

Nrwl reserves the right to ban those that do not follow the basic tenants of this code of conduct after fair warning and prior discussion.
